You’re probably aware of some of the foods that can be bad for your oral health. Have you ever wondered what foods can aid your smile? Our dentist and team are happy to give you some pointers on foods to integrate into your diet to improve your dental health.

Leafy Vegetables
Leafy, green vegetables like kale and spinach can help improve oral health. These greens are high in calcium, which can aid the health of the tooth enamel. If you need ideas to incorporate more of these greens into your diet, try adding a handful of spinach to a salad, adding greens to a smoothie, or putting some kale on a pizza.

Yogurt can help keep your teeth healthy because it is high in protein and calcium. The probiotics in yogurt can also benefit your gums. To maximize the benefits of yogurt for your oral health, choose a variety with no added sugar.

Carrots are helpful to the teeth because they are crunchy and full of fiber. Chewing and eating raw carrots can increase the saliva in the mouth, thus reducing the risk of cavities.

Apples are high in water and fiber, which is very beneficial to the teeth. Since apples are crunchy, they can increase saliva production in the mouth. The saliva rinses away bacteria and food particles, and the fiber in apples stimulates the gums, thus helping them stay healthy.

Like carrots and apples, celery can scrape food particles and bacteria away from the teeth. Celery is also high in vitamins A and C, which can aid the health of your gums.
