Dr. Brian J. Hockel, Dr. Rebecca Jardine, and our team of hygienists utilize dental X-rays to examine your mouth and diagnose developing problems. X-rays have made it easier to provide you with quality care, as they make your treatments faster, more comfortable, and more accurate.
What are X-rays?
Dental X-rays rely on sensors to capture images of your mouth, including your teeth, tooth roots, and other supporting structures. These images make it easy for us to identify problems in your smile and plan treatments to restore your oral health.
What are the benefits of X-rays?
Dental X-rays are used to diagnose many different types of dental problems, including:
• Tooth decay/cavities
• Cysts, abscesses, and tumors
• Developmental abnormalities
• Improper root positioning
• Bone loss
X-rays are also used in planning treatments, such as root canal treatment, implant placement, and other oral surgeries.
Are dental X-rays safe?
Dental X-rays are absolutely safe. In fact, they produce less radiation that what you are exposed to in your day-to-day life. Digital X-rays are even more safe, producing 80-90% less radiation than traditional film radiography. Additionally, we check our X-ray machines regularly to ensure that they are functioning properly and that they are safe for use.
